Since 2007, ISIS designs and markets SurgiMedia, medical/surgical video-management devices for endoscopy rooms, intervention rooms and operating theaters.
With more than 600 systems installed in hospitals around the world, public and private, we thought it was a good idea to look back on almost 20 years of experience and to carry out an analysis of the reliability/durability of our devices and the level of satisfaction of biomedical engineers and technicians, our technical customers.
We used the sustainability index for household appliances and developed our own questionnaire based on several key criteria: the reliability of our equipment, its reparability, its scalability and, as a direct consequence, its durability. This is the questionnaire we sent to each of our technical contacts.
Reliability + Reparability + Evolutivity = Durability
For the reparability evaluation, we have (among other things) taken into account the following main criteria: the technical documentation provided, the removability and access to the various components and subassemblies, the specificity of the necessary tools, the availability andprice of spare parts.
For the evaluation of reliability we have taken into account the usual criteria such as failure rates, MTBF, the average time between failure and repair but also the average life of the devices as well as a criterion more related to the fight against waste and for economy Good Circular: the evolutivity factor that allows some of our devices installed since 2007 to be still in service and fully operational thanks to software and hardware regular upgrades.
Conclusion: the response rate to this reliability questionnaire is, so far, close to 65% and the answers, which were treated as confidential, have allowed, on the basis of an evaluation noted by the various criteria mentioned above, to evaluate our SurgiMedia with a Durability Coefficient of a value close to 9.5/10, which makes it an extremely reliable and durable device but also demonstrates, and above all, a paid strategy for the company, for its customers but also, In the longer term, for the planet.
