At a time when it is advisable to consume less and better, what about technical investments in hospitals and especially video-management of the operating room ?
Some old or obsolete installations need to be modernized and upgraded but is this possible by minimizing the expenses, in particular by reusing all or part of the equipment already in place and for some still operational ?
This is the successful bet that made the Foch Hospital of Suresnes (close to Paris) by entrusting ISIS to modernize its old Sony VM installation (14 video-management operating rooms in SDI technology) dating back more than 10 years !
As part of this upgrade, ISIS has retained the entire network infrastructure and video cables, as well as the matrix and audio system in place and still functional. The upgrades consisted of a change in the central unit (PC) to control the modules in place by a state-of-the-art equipment but with complete cyber-security management and with notable results :
1- Four times fewer active elements in the video racks of technical rooms,
2- Five times less energy consumption,
3- No loss of hospital operation (the changes made did not require any heavy or messy work, only a provision of each operating room for a few hours and according to the surgical program)
4 - An investment for the hospital lower by a factor of 3 to 4 compared to a complete new installation.
